Providing education to develop our students as young leaders and people of character is a key mission of the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS).

In junior and senior years of high school, students who are motivated to engage challenges beyond the standard curriculum are invited to apply to the
PALCS Young Leaders Program.

This highly innovative program develops the whole person---the young “leader within”--- and features proven practices and principles for personal leadership, character development, and service leadership. The program begins with a transformational six day residential retreat, where 25 select students, guided by five PALCS senior teachers, learn and practice the essential leadership principles with their peers, make many new friends, and set personal and team-based goals for the semester.

The residential program curriculum is followed by a fully integrated 15 week online “whole person” curriculum of readings, exercises, and progressive assignments to help students implement their goals, and engage and apply what they are learning to real world situations.

The program is based on two core foundations, Personal Leadership and Service Leadership.

The Young Leaders Program was developed in collaboration with
TeenWork, a non-profit character education division of The InnerWork Company.
