Mr. Oebbecke ("oh-beck") came to PALCS in January '06 after a year of long-term substitute teaching Pre-Algebra, Science and Language Arts at Bala Cynwyd Middle School and a year of per diem substitute teaching in Lower Merion School District.
Oebbecke got into teaching because he "wanted every day to be different and exciting along with the desire to have my career make a difference in someone's life. Plus I liked the idea of free #2 pencils..."
However, in the pencil-free cyber school environment, "I feel like I am on the ground floor of something special and the cutting edge of education. So far I've really enjoyed my time here at PALCS. I've been allowed to grow and experiment as a teacher. This has enabled me to make the student's education as exciting and fulfilling as it can be. "
While not currently in school, he wants to finish his graduate degree as soon as possible. Otherwise, Oebbecke plans "to enjoy being newly married for a while and to hopefully buy a house soon. After that, little Oebbeckes should be running around shortly."
