PALCS is proud to announce the University Scholars Program (USP) mock trial team who won 3rd place at the 7th annual La Salle Blue & Gold Invitational Mock Trial Tournament on January 14th and 15th, 2017.
The two day tournament took place at La Salle University located in Philadelphia, PA. 32 powerhouse teams from various schools in the state of Pennsylvania competed in the tournament.
The PALCS team’s record of ballots was six wins, with only one loss and one tie. Victories were scored against teams from St. Joseph’s Prep located in Philadelphia County, Conestoga Valley High School in Lancaster County and Kennett High School in Chester County. In the championship match, the PALCS University Scholars team and Roman Catholic’s team each took one judge’s ballot, but Roman Catholic won the tie-breaking point spread.
The team is made up of mostly sophomores and freshman with only one senior and one junior. “Overall, it was great learning experience for a relatively young team. Their love of competition and hard work in preparing for the case helped them to get ready,” said coach and USP principal Christopher “Kit” Stiles.
Mr. Stiles credits the team’s success to their extraordinary student leadership, team spirit, creativity, and the pre-season scrimmages with schools in Chester County including, Great Valley High School, Kennett High School, and Rustin High School.
“We’ve also had some amazing advice and guidance from Mr. Frank Baldo, our attorney advisor,” said Mr. Stiles.
Congratulations to all members of the USP Mock Trial team on a job well done! The PALCS community is so proud of you, keep up the good work!
