Biography: Ms. Mahoney has wanted to be a teacher since she was in elementary school. She has always loved being able to help others and figure out new ways to approach teaching so all learners can be successful. Ms. Mahoney has worked in West Philadelphia with Mastery Charter Schools and KIPP New Jersey in Camden. While teaching at home for a year and a half, she adapted her in-person teaching style to a virtual environment, allowing her students learning to continue seamlessly. She found that she was able to still engage with her students through the online platforms, helped them grow academically, all while fostering positive relationships with her students and their families. As an athlete since she was very young, she’s a firm believer in teamwork and collaboration. Ms. Mahoney was a gymnast for 11 years, a diver for 8 years (including 4 years as a NCAA Division 1 diver), and now spends countless hours a week running long distance.
