Happy National School Counseling Week 2018! This special week, wrapping up today, is sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Taking place from February 5th to February 9th this year, the purpose of the week is to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within the U.S. and highlight the substantial impact school counselors have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. The theme this year is “School Counselors: Helping Students Reach for the Stars.”
Today, the PALCS staff, faculty and the community showed their support and appreciation for the PALCS guidance department and counselors by participating in “College-Wear Day.” Faculty and students were asked to show their college pride in an effort to get students thinking about their futures.

The PALCS guidance department helps students every day, far beyond the task of helping students select their courses. The guidance department offers services K-12, career counseling starting in 8th grade, standardized test prep courses, study skills, and dedicated guidance counselors that stick with students all the way through high school. The department offers crisis response and prevention, encourages self-improvement and kindness initiatives, and spearheads school-wide Bullying Prevention Month activities every October.
