Brief Biography: Dr. Diehl is passionate about learning and exploration, inspired by a lifelong curiosity about the natural world. She earned a BS in Biology and a PhD in Ecology. During both degrees, she spent much of her time conducting ornithological research in many cool and remote places (US, Canada, and Australia)! Throughout these experiences, she discovered a passion for teaching. Dr. Diehl had many opportunities to help others understand and engage with biology and research, whether guiding volunteers and new students in the field or leading labs and lectures for new undergraduates. Ultimately, these experiences led her to focus her career in education! She loves teaching a wide range of topics at the introductory levels but especially enjoys teaching topics in ecology and natural selection. No matter the topic, she finds constant inspiration in the thoughtful, sometimes unexpected questions her students ask, and most of all loves being able to help students develop a strong foundation for lifelong scientific thinking and curiosity! Dr. Diehl comes from a family of educators and is proud to continue the family tradition! Outside of school, she enjoys board games, horseback riding, hiking the Appalachian Trail, falconry, and training her border collie in dog agility.
Fun fact: Dr. Diehl has been to 42 states! (and hopes to eventually see them all!)
