Flexibility With Responsibility
PALCS teachers are encouraged to develop their own curriculum, additional resources, and alternative learning styles in order to tailor lessons to each individual’s students and needs. While these courses are offered in a combination of asynchronous, offline work and synchronous, live, virtual classes, and students are able to learn at their own pace, they are expected to take responsibility in completing their classes and requesting help when needed in order to be successful in their learning.
That’s why students who are accountable, driven, and responsible succeed at PALCS. Not only do our students have a desire to learn, but they also they strive to complete their lessons to the best of their ability and take their schoolwork seriously.
Parent & Caregiver Involvement
Students who have caregivers or parents present during the course of the day are those who do the best in an online learning environment. Although this is especially true for elementary-aged children who have not yet learned to work independently, having someone available and willing to help can be a fantastic resource even for adolescents and teens! Parents and caregivers are not expected to know every answer but rather act as a guide to assist their student as they navigate the online curriculum.
At PALCS, we’ve found that students who have parent or caregiver involvement in their school day excel the most. They have someone to provide structure, answer questions, and help them understand their lessons — and that presence is invaluable when it comes to their success.
A Drive to Succeed & Lead
An online education is as robust or even more rigorous than a traditional brick-and-mortar school. Contrary to popular belief, virtual learning is not an easy “A” for students who may be struggling in traditional school. In fact, our most successful students are those who are self-motivated to be the best that they can be — both inside and outside the classroom. They thrive on challenges and take initiative to complete their studies, get to know their peers, and engage with their teachers.
PALCS students have a motivation and drive to become leaders and excel in whatever it is they do. Not only does our rigorous curriculum prepare students to excel in an academic sense, but students are also prepared to be informed, responsible citizens with a global mentality who succeed through mentoring leadership.
