PALCS USP Students Win

On Monday, March 7th, six PALCS University Scholars (USP) students participated and won accolades in the Chester County Science Research Competition: 8th graders Edith Bradley, Amaya Douglas, Hannah Phillips, and Noah Rubien; 9th grader Gaea Lawton; and 12th grader Ralph Lawton.

After judging took place

Four USP students received awards for their research.

  • Noah Rubien received an Honorable Mention in the Middle School Biochemistry division.
  • Amaya Douglas received 2nd Place in the Middle School Behavioral and Social Sciences division, and her project was selected to advance to the Delaware Valley Science Fair.
  • Gaea Lawton won 1st Place in the 9th Grade Engineering division and 1st Place Best of Show in Engineering, and her project was selected to advance to the Delaware Valley Science Fair.
  • Ralph Lawton won 1st Place in the 12th Grade Medicine and Health division, 1st Place Best of Show in Medicine and Health, and the Richard and Patti Smith Medicine and Health Award. Ralph’s project was also selected to advance to the Delaware Valley Science Fair.

The students selected to advance to the Delaware Valley Science Fair will compete against students from throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and the state of Delaware.
