Night on the Roof with PALCS High School Principal Mr. Logue

On May 5, 2023, PALCS high school principal Mr. Logue spent the night on the roof. But, how and why did he end up there?

It all started when 10th grade student class representative at the time, Ruth Clement, received a quirky idea on her grade’s Google Form. She brought the idea to the Student Government Council, and so, it was born: PALCS Color Wars.

High school students from each grade were asked to submit a picture of themselves wearing their designated class color. The grade with the most submissions would win.

Wanting to generate buzz around Color Wars, Ruth teamed up with Mr. Logue to come up with challenges he could complete as a prize for the winning class. Some of the ideas included dying his beard the color of the winning class and sleeping on the roof. Spoiler alert: he ended up doing both.

When the big night came, Mr. Logue took to the roof of the PALCS high school teachers’ building with gusto. Some highlights of the night were Mr. Logue spray painting his beard blue—the color of the winning 10th grade class—Zooming with students, making smores, and hoisting his dinner up the side of the building. Imagine what was running through his DoorDash driver’s head.

All silliness aside, Mr. Logue showed up for his students in a big way, His dedication to supporting student-led initiatives (and having fun) is clear. Night on the Roof was just one example of our culture of community and care.
