Dr. Joey Rider-Bertrand, PALCS Chief Academic Officer

The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) is excited to welcome Dr. Joey Rider-Bertrand as our new Chief Academic Officer (CAO)!

Dr. Rider-Bertrand brings a wealth of experience in instructional leadership, cross-program strategy, and innovation in STEM education. Her proven track record and student-focused approach make her a powerful addition to our academic leadership team.

Before joining PALCS, Dr. Rider-Bertrand served at IUI13, where she led strategic division across key program areas such as Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, and Student Services. Her leadership has driven impactful initiatives and fostered collaboration among educators, all with a focus on student success.

A recognized leader in STEM education, Dr. Rider-Bertrand led the development of Pennsylvania’s first K-5 integrative STEM curriculum. She also founded a statewide STEM conference and conducted grant-funded research to improve math and science instruction in schools.

Beyond her work in the classroom, Dr. Rider-Bertrand is passionate about developing future education leaders. She has mentored rising educators, presented at conferences, and served on several education committees.

Her leadership style is both thoughtful and results-driven—guided by data, built on collaboration, and grounded in the belief that innovation should be a part of every student’s learning experience.
