Student Activities
At The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School, we understand the importance of connecting our students socially beyond the classroom. That’s why we offer a wide range of clubs, field trips, and excursions throughout the year.
Clubs for elementary students include Book Buddies, Got Science, and even Board Game Club!
Field trips are both educational and engaging for the whole family. Students have the opportunity to meet their peers and some of the PALCS faculty. We like to offer a variety of field trips that have included science centers, museums, zoos, sporting events, national monuments, national gardens, and behind-the-scenes tours.
For families and students interested in the arts, we have attended plays, symphonies, and ballets, and we have also dressed up for the Renaissance Faire. For students interested in animal science and biology, we have visited both the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia zoos, along with some smaller zoos such as ZooAmerica and Elmwood Zoo.
Whether it’s the end-of-year picnic, a trip to the museum, or connecting to other families with the Parent Network, PALCS offers many ways to socialize and get to know others in the PALCS community.

Arts, Music & Career Interests
From dance programs to musical theatre to honors courses, each interest is unique in its own way. In addition to electives that are available to all students, PALCS offers intensive programs for older, high-performing students in music, fine arts, dance, and more.
These enrichment programs are offered to middle school and high school students who wish to take a deep dive on more focused interests.
In order to participate in these programs, students must be enrolled at PALCS middle or high school. Then, each program has additional application processes which could include an audition, interviews, or teacher recommendations.
Engagement Beyond the Elementary School Basics
Online elementary school students at PALCS have a variety of opportunities available to pursue their interests and passions beyond the classroom. From extending their studies to include interests like music and art to clubs for just about any conceivable topic, PALCS students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of classes, activities, field trips, and more with friends and teachers from throughout the PALCS community.
Get To Know Your Teachers
Our teachers are one of the best things about attending school at PALCS! They bring passion, knowledge and joy to their virtual classrooms each and every day.
PALCS students are inquisitive, friendly, and enjoy being a part of a special community! Even though students attend school virtually, they have many opportunities to socialize, make friends, and engage with their peers.
Whether it’s group projects, shared interests like music, Minecraft, and sports, or virtual study hall, your student will get to know others and make fast friends at school.
We love to see friendships develop that extend beyond the school day, with students arranging virtual meet-ups with their PALCS friends! And with students from all over the state of Pennsylvania attending school alongside your child, there’s bound to be local friends connecting in your city or town.
